Are anti SJW's the new SJW's?

Finished The Last Of Us Part 2? Wanting to express your opinions about your experience on social media and discuss with like minded individuals? Well unfortunately for you this will likely result in a barrage of hateful and harassing comments about how Awful and "Woke" the game is, how it's pushing some political agenda and anyone who likes it is a s*mp. There may also be some comments about shoving something down someones throat?

Remember when social media users were collectively outraged by "Social justice warriors" and their attempts to quash movies, TV shows and video games that weren't politically correct? Well... they now seem to pale in comparison to the astounding numbers of self proclaimed "anti social justice warriors" running amok in all areas of the internet.

I feel kind of silly using terms like these but they seem to be universally recognized for describing these two subsections of extreme ideology. With one recently taking over.

The Last Of Us Part 2 released 19 June to astounding reviews, this however seems to have enraged people everywhere, particularly anti SJW's. This may not come as much of a surprise given the extreme reaction to leaks pre-release.

With Feminist cringe compilations and far right gaming personalities blowing up on YouTube, anti SJW's seem to be everywhere. It is ironic however that a group of people constantly complaining about others being easily offended seem to be even more offended than the group they so eagerly fight against.

TLOU2 Game Director Neil Druckmann has been the target of astonishing targeted hate and harassment which he is yet to respond to, as well as voice actors Troy Baker(Joel), Ashley Johnson(Ellie) and Laura Bailey who plays the controversial character "Abby".

For most of us, if we consume a piece of media that we didn't enjoy we move on. Anti SJW's however don't seem capable of this, instead they fill mentions and news feeds with racist, homophobic and hateful vitrol, starting petitions to have developers completely rewrite a game or film e.g "The Last Jedi" to their liking. As I mentioned earlier this is very ironic given their stance on the overly offended.

In truth developers should be completely free to tell a story however they choose to. it matters not if your were a fan of The Last Of Us 1 or how many copies of the game you purchased, it is not your story to tell.

Only time will tell if this rhetoric will continue permanently or whether they will slowly die out, or even if they truly are the vocal minority others claim they are given TLOU2 becoming the fastest selling game in the UK, despite promises of a boycott and Meticritic users giving the game a 0 score en mass.

The Last Of Us Part 2 is out NOW on PS4!
